“Video is the fastest growing format on our platform right now, and the one most likely to get people talking,” said Pete Davies, the director of product management at LinkedIn, in an interview with TechCrunch.

And it’s not far from reality. Since its creation in 2005, YouTube has become in the second most popular search engines online (only after Google, who owns the platform) and according to its numbers, has more than 1 billion active users (even more than GMail).

Also, the 70% of their visits come from mobile phones, and it’s more popular than any other cable network for audiences between 18 and 49 years.

On the other hand, Facebook has also boosted its live broadcasted videos: the social network has 2.3 billion users and 8 billion reproductions a day, and until 2018 had 3.5 billion live broadcasts. No wonder why LinkedIn wants to get into this.
